Many, if not most professionals play off center and they still sound OK. This is not something wierd that is specific to you. Creating arbitrary rules about what is 'correct' is counter productive. Bud Herseth(if you don't know who that is please look it up) had a terrible accident in the middle of his carreer and came back sounding as great as ever. He also is known to have played in one place on his face until he got tired. Then he would switch off to one side.. get tired.. other side. No degradation in sound. Everyone's lips are different and to be frank having a scar in them probably doesn't make them any more different than they probably already were. If you want real proffesional advice get a good teacher and find out what he/she thinks when they see it in person.

In the mean time: Is playing out of the scarred side of the lip all that bad? Could it be refined if you put in the time? If it absolutely can't be refined for whatever physical reason then play somewhere else where you know it can be.
