Been there: done that, too!!!! Finally caught on to who the stupid one was.
Expect things to go wrong and keep your instrument in a safe position in a safe place and you will have fewer such accidents.
Leaving a tuba standing on its bell in a rehearsal set up is asking for trouble!!!
Think yourself lucky it did not get knowcked over the edge of the stage.
Remember the old ounce of prevention being worth a pound of cure????????
If the owner does not show enough concern about the value of their instrument to move it, why should anybody else worry about it?!?!?!?!?
