Volker,
I personally like to have strap rings, as they are typically referred to in the US. My York CC came with strap rings and a lyre-holder socket. When stationed in Europe, I took my 5/4 Rudolf Meinl CC to the factory to have it completely overhauled, and at my request, Herr Meinl installed strap rings and a lyre-holder socket on it. He also supplied a nice, hefty strap for it. I did not march with it often, but when I did, what a powerful marching horn! Incidentally, it did not weigh significantly more than our metal sousaphones. The strap was particularly useful for military band use, in that would typically stand to play the National Anthem, and stand for the latter portions of the Stars & Stripes Forever.
