It seems that there is a unanimous agreement that Wagners music is indeed worth playing. So do you all agree that his life is worth researching and the actual plot behind stories like 'the mastersinger' should be given merit when being performed with an opera? Could we perform the piece freely with out paying homage to Wagner by adhereing to the confines of this propaganda for the superior austrian race. In other words could we play the big tuba excerpts with much espression and break away from the confines of the story?
