I think you're missing his point — by a Montana mile — and minimizing what is being said! Read it again and notice the definitives (all, every) used in reference to these "repair" jobs. There is no substitute for time in the practice room. All the gadgets in the world won't make a mediocre player a good one, and the really good players have found a way to sound great on a garden hose.
