In the Poem: Ma-Yom-Bé Bom-Bé Ma-Yom-Bé as the rythme played by the strings just after the tuba-trumpet-piccolo soli...
Revueltas is a good exemple of mixing traditions: This Africain poem and mexicain music, but also he's mixing in his music Europeen traditions (as neo-classical music), music of the native and mexicain music that itself is a mix of native and spanish music...
You can hear a shell in the music of La Noche de los Mayas... that was an instrument used by the Mayas and Aztecs... A good exemple of neo-classical is Homenaje a Frederico Gracia Lorca and Ocho por radio... listen to the slow part (the Bassoon solo with the Clarinet) of Ocho por Radio it's sound like Bach music with rythm (percussions) below that bring us in an other kind of music...

Definitly, Revueltas is a must know for tuba players, but also for all the musicians.
