That is some very helpful information! I'm scared to try it for fear of messing something up, but it's helpful information just the same. I went ahead and laquered my BBb helicon. It was probably the first time that the instrument had ever seen a buffing wheel, but after sitting in "Brite Dip", and later acid, it was still as black as midnight. The buffing just made it look so good that I had to seal it. What the heck, I did it for myself, not an antique dealer. If I knew how to post pictures on this site I'd show you what it looks like (not bad for 112 years old).
