The small 3 top piston Jupiter is very popular for young marching players here. I once tried one and gave it this less than flattering review in another context:
"I have tried a minor Bb tuba from Jupiter. Nice instrument within its
limited frames. If you do have a detachable bell tuba our a sousa, you can
mimic that sound by trying to play without the bell. Very effective sound,
just not the one of a tuba."
It might, however, be the right instrument for the purposes told of in Dan’s original posting. Small kids with smaller mouthpieces hardly move as much air as I did at the testing.
