Well, I had a conversation about this with Larry Zalkind (principal trombone with Utah) and we actually talked for some time about it. He gave me many great points so I'll give them to you:

1. Make it neat, organized, and typed.
2. Keep it simple and HONEST!
- Make sure you tell the truth or you WILL get busted.
3. Keep it 1 page and EXCLUDE!!! High School if at all possible.
4. Get atleast 3 HELPFUL resources.
- Ask your profs if you can rely on them for a positive reference, not just because they will talk you up or bring you down, but just to be polite...
5. List your most recent accomplishments first, followed by older 'events'.
- He suggested this order:
1. Education
2. Professional Orchestra Experience (if applicable)
- if not, include college orchestra.
3. Other Professional Experience
- 5tet, wind ensembles, etc...
4. References
- Teachers, Directors, Conductors, etc. (doesn't have to be tuba teacher)
- He suggested that your tuba prof and orchestra director/conductor

I hope this helps you out and if you need any more help, please do not hesitate to email me. Practice, practice, practice... Oh yeah, and if you are sending out tapes, BUY A MINIDISK recorder! if you don't, you narrow your chances.

Best Wishes,
justin
