There is a prescription medicine called KENALOG that's designed to help heal cuts on the lip. I had a bit of a split on tour last year and a friend gave me this stuff and it really worked. It's sort of pasty, and you might not want to use it while actually playing, but applying it overnight and whenever I wasn't playing really helped me heal. Other remedies work too I'm sure but this stuf is made to heal just the problem you describe. Good Luck.
