This is going to be a case of the blind leading the blind, but from what I have heard different brass compositions (yellow, rose, etc) differ slightly in timbre. I think (I might very well be wrong here) that rose, for example, is slightly warmer/darker, but that it breaks up quickly at loud volumes. A good person to ask about this might be a horn player. They seem to know a fair amount about how brass composition affects sound. However, I would guess that those differences are less apparent on a tuba (just as trumpet player notice significant difference between laquer/silver/raw brass, but the difference is almost imperceptible when it comes to tubas).
