On the other hand...this is an easy operation, and one that any careful person should be able to complete. The key words, as mentioned by Art, are, it ain't rocket science, and only you (as opposed to a repairman) know how loose/tight you want the slides to be.

You can check alignment...try each half of the slide separately. Do they move easily? If so, you've an alignment problem...take it to a repairman. With one half fully in, can you turn the slide? If not, the slide is bent...a repairman's job again. I apologise if this is obvious!

I've used fairly safe and conservative treatments on slides: a very fine valve grinding paste (as in car valves, have to be careful there, loss of compression is serious), toothpaste and even a rag dipped in brasso. Repairmen may cringe, but I felt 'in control' at all times, and resisted the temptation to take it too far.
