I have copy of an article published in the Instrumentalist Magazine in 87 or 88 that details the conversion that you speak of. I did it at that time using the DuBro Ball sockets that are mentioned and just last year I up graded to a newer set that I purchased from Joe Sellmansberger of Mid South Music for an extremely fair price.
