Dear TubaEuph Friends,

As the new tuba player for the Monumental Brass
Quintet, Washington, D.C.'s Premiere Brass Quintet, I
wanted to pass on this information to any interested
tuba, euph, and trombone players.

Although it is a bit late, I would like to put in a
plug for any students (grades 5 -12) in the greater
Washington, D.C. metro area who may be interested in
attending the Levine School of Music's Brass Week,
July 16 - 20, 2001. There are still openings
available for low brass players. In addition to all
the below information, all tuba, euph, and trombone
students will be doing daily lessons with me for the
entire week of the camp.

The information for the camp, taken from the Levine
website, is as follows:

Brass Week

Grades 5 - 12

Join members of Levine's award-winning
artists-in-residence, the Monumental Brass Quintet, in
an informal camp environment for a comprehensive
experience in building musicianship, improving
sound quality, increasing breathing efficiency and
chamber playing in small and large ensembles. Learn
how to prepare for all-state/all-county band
auditions, solo and ensemble performances.

$325

One-week session, July 16 - 20, 2001

10 am - 3 pm

Concert: July 20, 7 pm

Coached by members of the Monumental Brass Quintet:
Pat Whitehead, trumpet; Mark DiClaudio, trumpet; Steve
Brinegar, horn; Kelly Mankowski-O'Bryant, tuba,
euphonium, and tenor/bass trombone.

For more info, visit the Levine School's website at:

http://www.levineschool.org/2001%20Summer%20Catalog/VA.htm

Or, you can visit the following website for more
information on the Monumental Brass Quintet:

http://www.monumentalbrass.org

At this point in time, since it is only one week away,
interested students should contact the MBQ office
directly at:

mbqpat(AT)aol.com

Or via telephone at:

301.322.4582

BTW - yes, I know both websites list Craig Arnold as
the tuba (bass bone, actually) player for MBQ.
However, Craig recently won a spot with the U.S. Army
Band, and he is no longer with the group. The
websites have yet to be updated with my info, etc., as
I only recently joined the group.

Thanks for your time.

Kelly
