Tinkering with a York "Monster" Eb

Has anyone put a set of big bore valves (~.750) and a larger leadpipe on a York "Monster" Eb?

I was wondering if the horn would maintain a good tone or if the impedence change would counteract the effects of "opening up" the input end of the horn with that large of a bore. Also list any other problems that may occur. I am aware of a few large bore Eb's and F's on the market, some of which are highly praised (Wilson Eb).

The reason I'm asking is that I'm about to undertake a project of converting my top-valve York to front-valves as well as adding a valve or two. I can either go with similar bore valves or "soup" up the horn completely since I'll have to change everything around. The work will be done myself and I can source some valves at a fair price so please let's not worry with bringing up cost/value of horn issues.

If anyone has done this please chime in.

Robby
