If you plan on majoring in music I would wait until you get to college and have a tuba teacher there to help you decide. Or at least get a good teacher now to help you decide what is right for you. You do not want to spend thousands to find out your teacher in college would rather have you play brand X rather than brand Y. This is assuming you have at least a decent tuba to play at your school. If not then you may want to get a honr now, so you can prepare for auditions etc. In either case get yourself a private teacher ASAP. Also if you are planning on majoring in music start taking piano lessons, if you do not already play piano. It will help you in almost every aspect of your music study. Probably more info than you were looking for but hey it was free so what the heck...
