I've been fussing around with the same range the last few weeks (last 20 years is more like it). Try a shallow cup mouthpiece, this really helps center the notes. figure out which fingerings work the best and memorize the slide pulls for perfect intonation. Here's the important thing: practice heavy every other day. light days rest and rebuild the lip.
I play CC, but often find BBb tubas to have a good responce in that range. I do alot of octave slurs and leaps. Here's one: play G (1st line bass clef)for 4 counts, rest 4 counts while thinking (or mentalizing the pitch and shape of the lip) the G above the staff, play the G on the 9th count for 4 beats. You may want to start lower and work up in half steps. Play some simple little tunes in that register.
I alternate about one minute high-range, one minute below low G. Hope some of this ramble is helpfull.
