In the pre-wall-fall era B&S was the label of the top line. But the differences in quality between the rotary and the piston instruments was amazing. An honest person hardly would combine the word quality with the piston series. Bad alloys, worse honing.

The influx of western investments and technology have remedied that problem. My main reason for hesitating in an investment in a Perantucci or a VMI instrument basically is of monetary sorts. My purse is a bit lean right now.

My interpretation of the Perantucci versus VMI stampings is, that the PT series are intended for orchestral purposes, while the VMI label is pointing towards band usage.

My memory recalls a difference in alloys between the Neptune and the PT. The former being made of red/gold brass, the latter being in yellow brass.

Wonderful to discuss and dream of tubas which one can not afford!
