I began a search several months ago for a 3/4 horn. I corresponded via e-mail extensively with Joe S. in Memphis about the Weril. I finally played it and decided I didn't want a 3/4 after all. I did, however play several of them. I thought the Weril was exactly as Joe described and hard to beat for the price. I know he sells them and his e-mail can be found here as he is a frequent tubenet contributor. If you have more money to spend, I thought the best playing 3/4 was the Mirafone 1271. Or, if you want a smaller horn that is not a true 3/4, I liked the Conn 5J and the Ceverny 683-4MR. I've described a mix of pistons and rotarys here, and all of the horns I played were BBb. This is just one man's opinion, but I'm in the middle of a search and have played 12 different models in the last six weeks--so at least my opinions should be fairly consistent and certainly current.
