I once had a Musica F tuba with four valves, and never found an in-tune and centered low Bb. Likewise my project horn, which is a Missenharter Eb that I cut to F. The best Bb on that horn is with the priveleged tones. Yuck. I've bought the fifth valve parts, but I'm still pondering how to proceed. I'm in no hurry, though.
And getting the F#'s in the Vaughan Williams with an uncompensated 4-valve F tuba is quite a challenge.
