I just had to add this story re cleaning out horns PRIOR to playing. Several years ago I borrowed an ancient Boston helicon and played it immediately, not having the patience to wait and flush it out in the backyard. I noticed it was a bit stuffy so I got out the garden hose and began to flush it out carefully. Midway in the process I felt I was being watched. I looked down at the ground and saw three sets of small eyes looking at me. Three mice had gone as far into the spiralling instrument as they could and ended up staying there....for at least forty years as far as I could tell. My stomach began to react to the fact that I'd been playing the horn for about a month...mice and all. It did play much better after the mice were removed. A bit gruesome for the Tubenet?
