No one has mentioned the Conn 52J. There's been plenty of correspondence on it. Search the archives. Talk to Matt Walters, the principal designer, and our custom guru in the New York area tristate region. At 17, you don't NEED a 6/4 Yorkophone, but you'll find those inwardly powerful, darkly haunting, yet firmly centered qualities you're looking for on a more accessable scale of values in the new Conn. I wish I'd had one at 17! It could be a horn you'd hang onto, even if you do move to a 6/4 later on. Put it on your list of "to tries."
