Pete:

I play on this horn and have been experimenting with mouthpieces quite a bit myself. My personal observations are that the horn plays best for me on a medium, helleburg style mouthpiece with possibly a little narrower inside rim diameter.

I have tried the the Miraphone rose solo, the Monette 94 (same specs as the Conn Helleburg), the Monette 94F, and the Monette 97 (very similar to the Conn Helleburg 7B upon comparison). The mouthpiece that I liked the best was the Monette 97.

An added bonus to this mouthpiece for me was that It gives me improved tuning (especially in the upper register.) I have found that my horn goes flat on several notes above 4th line F. Using the 97 prevented me from having to adjust as much. Have you found this problem on your Instrument?

Hope this Helps
