MY opinion Dave?...If you have one of the 5xxx-series horns built in Geretsrieg, the ones with a 20" bell and .750" bore, it's a 5/4 horn. The whimsey of different manufacturers in labeling their wares shouldn't prevent us from using that system to communicate something meaningful. If a PT-4 is considered a full-size, "4/4" tuba, then your Nirschel / B&M is certainly a "5/4" instrument.

Question for the masses, is a double-tuba (F/CC or F/BBflat) an "8/4" ???
