I STRONGLY warn you against that practice! Tubas are too big and easily dented. One little accident and you have a problem. If it is a horn you wanted, you won't mind living with a little dent. But if it was something you couldn't really afford, then what are you going to do? Your have to pay for the dent work or cover the decrease in value of the horn. You ARE a person who takes responsibility for your actions, aren't you? If the merchant wants, they can hit you up having the horn completely relacquered (about $800 these days) to return the horn to original condition. More if you messed up the slver plating.

Bad, bad idea. Never buy what you can't afford or don't want. That goes for anything, not just tubas.
