I think you're onto something there, the felts and corks are fine, but the valve guides are a bit worn. There is some lateral travel in the first valve, could this be the culprit? Can the valve guides be addressed without replating? You've given me some food for thought. And don't worry, I'm not having anything done to the horn until my wife says it's OK. (I've already abandoned the idea of adding a 4th valve.) Thanks,
