Like Louis, I find it beneficial to alter the resistance (with a fingertip)
to emulate a horn's resistance. Just how much fingertip depends on
register, and what dynamic, etc.

I also find that CUPPING my hands around the end of the mouthpiece
(a bit like a harmonica player) can;

1. allow adjustment of the resistance, and

2. allow me to filter more sound back to my ears so I can hear the pitch.

I agree with the others who have said that B.E.R.P. work is pointless if
you do not buzz the correct pitch at all times....
