Gene Porkorny did (and still does) play clarinet! I read this in an article in the Instrumentalist. Yep, he occassionly dusts his high school days vintage clarinet, whacks on 1 and half reed, and goes down and plays 3rd clarinet with his local community band. What a guy, one of the best tuba players (and all round musicians) around doesn't find it below himself to go down and have a honk with an amatuer ensemble.
