I studied classic guitar for about eight years before I really decided to become serious about my ability to play the tuba...also three years of piano study. Of course, I play bass guitar, because it is just an elementary form of standard classic guitar technique (except for some of the very special bass guitar techniques developed within the last two decades.)
Maybe those of use who "ended up" as TUBA players do so because we CAN.
