Make sure to check your lease! Here in Nashville almost every lease has a clause in it that doesn't allow using musical instruments of any type to be played. I unfortunately had the opportunity to "call" a neighbors bluff who was trying to "make it" in the country music industry by playing at all hours of the night; he was practically deaf, couldn't sing a lick, and couldn't compose.
Check out the silent brass or find a church nearby that would let you practice in their facility.
