You, of course, are absolutely correct. My Slovak mother, when angered with me, would use an expression that employed the word "cerveny." Loosely translated it was "if you don't stop irritating me, I'm going to hit you so hard, your nose will bleed." Literally it has something to do with "making your nose red (cerveny.")
