OK, I'm 98% leaning towards the ol' reliable F tuba, but has anyone in a professional situation ever tried a large compensating euphonium / Alex 5-rotor euphonium / etc. (outfitted with a large mouthpiece) on the ophicleide parts to the Mendelssohn - Midsummer Night's Dream incidental music?

Also - as I haven't yet dragged the ol' Mendelssohn excerpt book out of the file cabinet...

Of course I'll play on the Overture and the Wedding March, but how 'bout the Scherzo and the Intermezzo (into Act III), and the Nocturne...tacets?
