I just discovered an unexpected benefit of buyinga 'murican tuba.

The new, new King 2341 has a bolt-on valve assembly (just like the Conn 5xJ's). Last week I discovered the source of a mysterious rattle/vibration - I had lost one of the bolts.

As usual, I turned to Matt at Dillons for assistance, and he sent along a supply of spares. Even better, he pointed out that all I needed was a common 8-32 bolt (every workbench in America has a dozen scattered around somewhere). His only caution was "don't over-tighten". Worked like a charm!

[and now...the acid test...a few weeks ago IE developed a few quirks. One was that I could no longer print web pages (only web pages); another was that I could not start a NEW thread here (replying to existing threads worked); the last straw was when I couldn't complete a travel reservation on Travelocity. So, I just fixed it...by switching to Netscape 7.1. Cross your fingers...]
