As a guitarist and tubist, I would suggest the following:
1. If you have a large body acoustic guitar that will be played by strumming (as opposed to fingerstyle), and if the tuba part is sparse (I, V bass line, eg.), and if the room is "smaller", then you may well succeed.
2. If any of the above elements is absent, you will probably need to amplify the guitar, either via a mic and the house sound system, or by a pickup (or mic I suppose) and a guitar combo amp.
