I think the advantages you are seeing have to do with *hearing* the notes, and getting used to accepting the high/low notes (on euph) as "normal" notes on trumpet/tuba.

"if you can sing it, you can buzz it; if you can buzz it, you can play it"

playing the extreme notes on an instrument where they are no longer "extreme" is helping you to hear those notes in your head - and you transfer that skill to the euph.

Those who report diminishing returns are simply saying that more advanced players don't have all that much trouble "hearing" the extremes.
