It is typical Prokofiev..loaded! It is very low, loud, soft, exposed with long phrases and no place to breathe. It is great writing for the tuba and it's a gas to play but you would be well advised to secure a part as soon as possible. If you can get a copy of Torchinsky book with Prokofiev Orchestral works you can get a head start but be warned, the ballet score is much more extensive than the concert suite. There is a great recording with the Cleveland Orchestra so you can hear what you are up against.

I played it a year ago and I would do it again tomorrow if I could.
