I know that's the nomenclature, but I always thought a conservatory was a stand-alone kind of thing, like Juilliard or the Paris Cons.. If you get a degree from CCM, isn't it still technically from the University of Cinnci, like Eastman (Rochester) and Shepherd (Rice)? I know it's a dynamite school, I've just always been confused about it's title, much like Oberlin's conservatory. I recognize the difference between a big U's school and a big U's department of music, but I've always been curious what really makes a con a con? Cleveland seems much more like a con, as it's only marginally linked with CSRU.
