A brass instrument could probably easily last 100 years if the crud were cleaned out two or three times a year, the valves were oiled every time it was played, and oil was run down the mouthpipe in a spiral pattern two or three times a week...along with playing it with clean hands, wiping it off when done, and NOT DROPPING IT.
Even better treatment might extend the life 200 to 300 years. Metal is metal.
