If you find yourself in Memphis over the weekend, there's a nice little concert in Germantown (Germantown butts up east of Memphis. It's where the "high dollah folk$" live.) offered by Michael Stern & the IRIS Chamber Orchestra and featuring Ryan Anthony (recently resigned from the Canadian Brass), trumpet.
The concert may well be pre-sold out, but they usually offer cheapo admission to the dress rehearsal. Ryan is also offering a free masterclass just after the lunch hour on Friday. All is at the Germantown Performing Arts Center - NOT TOO FAR FROM PORKY'S BARBEQUE !!!
"bloke" will be supplying oompahs in the back on Moudau, a Dvorak symphony, and a special arrangement of Rhapsody in Blue for trumpet and orchestra. Ryan is also doing an Albinoni.
I cleaned all of the weird stuff out of his horns last week, so he should sound OK.
