I would suggest you read at least part of "The Hedgehog, The Fox, and the Magister's Pox: Mending the Gap Between Science and the Humanities" by Stephen Jay Gould. Gould points out that the main difference is the way problems are approached i.e. the thought process. He believes that each side is guilty of being too narrow in its approach and can benefit from using techniques borrowed from the other side. The analogies in the title refer to the methodologies plus the restrictions placed on science and humanities by religion. It is an interesting but somewhat difficult read.
