I agree with Ray on the fact that not all people hate the horns. I own a 186, and it is an exceptional horn, but doesn't have the same sonoritys that a 56J or other american style tubas do. My preference is towards the 56J style sound, and people listening to me playing a horn similar to the 56J side by side with the 186 like the sound of the american horn over the german. When I play back the same recording of both horns side by side, they almost without fail like the sound of the Miraphone over the american horn.

For that reason alone I don't believe I will ever sell the 186. The horn is solid, great responce, and a great german sound, but it records like a monster compared to any other horn I own.

BTW if anyone can explain how horns record diferently that they sound when using a high quality recording setup, I'd appreciate it. (Rode NT-2, digital capture w/ Cool edit pro, 44kHz, 32bit).
