The King 1250 was the standard size sousaphone of that time, and the King bell-front, or recording bass was 2340BF for the 3-valve version, and 2341BF for the 4-valve version. The 2340 has a nearly identical valve section to the 1250, and can be expected to have somewhat similar playing characteristics to the sousaphone, although the bell differences will be a factor.
