When I tried these two horns out side by side, I found myself being pulled in the direction of the King. The particular King that I tried was very well in tune with itself and gave me a sound that I felt was more condusive to a wider variety of playing venues. The 18 was a nice horn, but I felt that the sound that I produced on it would be limiting to me. I ended up purchasing the King and after almost a year of playing it, am very happy with my decision.
