I like the SHAPE of the Miraphone ring just fine, I don't trust the stud. I ended up using a nickel-silver ring on a flange trimmed so that it probably has about 2 in2 of soldered area under it. It's not going anywhere anytime soon.

The Miraphone ring will most likely get reworked when I next need it. Come to think of it, if a thumbring is secured with a bolt as I described under Lee's post, there's no need for it to be brass is there? A thumbring of stainless steel would be a good alternative. Perhaps with some "teeth" milled into it where it attaches to the threaded boss to keep it from moving once tightened down.
