Leave the little screws alone--their job is to support the end of the rotor (yes, I know they're just a temporary measure).
A strap wrench can be used to loosen the rotor caps; Zyliss makes a jar lid remover that can be used--it's sort of a strap wrench that uses a metal band instead of a strap.
If you have a rawhide hammer, you can also lightly tap the cap edge tangentially to loosen it a bit.
If you're at all unsure of what you're doing, take the horn to your local repair tech. When you screw the caps back on, place a bit of oil or anti-seize compound on the threads to make it easier next time.
