Baltimore Brass has a used Alexander 173 for sale. I have never tried the 173 at Baltimore Brass; however, I played a prototype many years ago and I liked it. The one that I played had the Alexander sound, seemed to project well and was set up very nicely (the slides were easily accessed). I did not find the intonation to be difficult on the example that I played. Unfortunatly, I only played this example.
About the Alexander 157. If you really desire one and have the time, you might think about contacting Alexander directly.
