hey,
I used an Alexander F contra in the trombone choir and used it on some Varese and a few other new music pieces and it was real cool. The 1st valve was like a fourth valve (0n an F) and the the 2nd was like a 5th (F tuba) so it made the transition a litlle easier BUT, I would be surprised if they still made them (I could be wrong). I played a Rasch (I think that was the name) that was pretty good, but I really like the Thein, but I remeber it being kinda pricey. FYI I had the reciever on the Alex changed to a tuba reciever and I used the Dallenbach MPC, befroe I had that done I used the Marcinkewitz Contra MPC. If you want to hear me I played contra on the new trombone choir cd (except for 1 or 2 tunes), the group sounds REALLY GOOD (I try not to make them sound bad and do the best I can).
Cool,
Bill Pritchard
p.s. my spelling is really bad and I'm at work so I'm doing 3 other things, so my grammer might be suckin' too.
