the intonation problems happen when low Bb and and all of the notes below it are more than a quater step sharp. Most horns are like that, some aren't.
I have a student with one of the good ones, the horns has held up well, no complaints about the valves except for the rubber pads they use instead of felts. THey have too much "bounce" to them, but those can be replaced.
