Uh, don't the Meinl Weston 2145, 2155, and 2165's all have the 5th valve in the exact same spot as the Conn 56J? I had a 2165 and mine was in the exact same spot as my 56J. The only difference would be the location of the valve itself in relation to the bell. I believe there was more space between the bell and the valve on the Meinl Weston.

I love my 56J and actually I think it has been the most ergonomic horn that I have owned. I simply rest the horn on my lap and put my left hand under the top branch to adjust the 1st valve slide. My ONLY problem when holding it is that I need to use a piece of that rubber shelving stuff in order to keep it from sliding off my lap. I guess I wear slick pants. :) Try the rubber shelving material. It will prevent slipage and help with the other issues.

Just my $0.02
