Its evident you're primary focus is being a musician. Any good marketing professional knows how to create the picture of their product being targeted to a select market segment. In this case, should the seller be better off representing the istrument as "having some dents, but I don't know if the horn sounds like crap or not". The buyer of a horn with the standard dings, dents, or bottom bow bruises, should be assuming there may be some flaws in the sound. Yet, if the creative marketing persons says " the horns has some dents and dings but they do not effect the sound". A buyer may than also assume that the horn is in playable condition and not been run over by a truck, unless of course their are no pictures posted.
